Meet the Vibe Scam

There’s a New Scam in Town: It’s Called the Vibe Scam

If you’re wondering why this scam is called “Vibe,” it is because it is connected with Vibe Coding. Vibe Coding is a method of building websites that focuses on making them look great and feel enjoyable to use.

You simply tell your AI tool what you need, and voilà! Your site or app is ready. At least, that’s how it’s supposed to work.. In reality, VR explained what Vibe Coding tools really are:

I kinda hate the term because it makes it seem like its not an involved process. it is very involved, and you can’t just vibe it.

All of the different tools selling the dream of building your own $1bn startup from just simple prompting are fooling people. yes all of them. trust me i’ve tried most of these tools

And now let us get to the point.

One page site created with vibe coding tools. These are probably the best looking scam sites out there.

It basically takes 30 seconds to create a stunner (in the eyes of an average person) website. Here is just one of the AI tools out there that can clone sites.

As you can see, no need to know anything, you just gotta have a will (and be stupid enough) to scam random people. These scams are mostly used to scam under 25 and over 65 y.o. visitors. Clone, promote, execute. Once URL is exposed new URL with a new fake site is created and the entire game is restarted.

websites that make $100 a day” . – Onlinepreneur

According to Avast and GenThreatLabs we have seen a huge spike in fake website scams this year. And 48.6% of these VibeScams are potential phishing scams. You enter a site that looks exactly like the site you visit everyday and you see you are logged out, you try to log in, but you actually give away your info to the owners of this scam. Best case scenario, your social media acount is toast.

Phishing scams are followed by crypto scams (28.5%) and finally, tech support scams with 3.7%.

If you end up on one of these sites you should know that If the deal is too good, it’s probably a lie.

Avast claims that for the first 10 months of 2025, they protected alsmost 200,000 users from VibeScams.

I am not sure how correct this data is, but I am sure there is something going on here.

As an example, website same.new is also blocked and flagged by Avast once you wanna visit it. Reason? They say same.new is a fraudulent website. A hacker shop that falsely represents itself and can deceive you.

But according to the creator of SameNew, they are your one way shop if you want to build fullstack web apps by prompting a.k.a Site Cloning Tool

Maybe they are both right?
